This is an exciting opportunity to acquire the necessary experience and recognised qualifications for a career afloat with an emphasis upon the maritime leisure industry. Water services for harbour operations, on the job learning and off site training courses.

Working hours

Variable shift to cover harbour operations from 0900 to 2200 hrs during peak season and 0900 to 1800 hrs out of season. 9 hours per day. At peak times there may be additional periods to cover for leave and sickness as required.

Queenborough Harbour Trust is a not for profit, Community Interest Company (CIC) the success of which is central to the future development of Queenborough and surrounding area. We are looking for an Apprentice Harbour Operative to join our enthusiastic and professional team.

This is a varied role and includes, but is not limited to, the following – • Delivery of the Harbour’s services • Operation and maintenance of the Harbour’s vessels • Carry out maintenance on moorings and Harbour facilities • Maintain records, answer phone calls and reply to emails • Maintain personal work record book for Apprenticeship scheme

The ideal candidate will have experience in the following – • Using a computer • Working in a team • Polite and courteous

The ideal candidate will – • Hold good GCSE’s in Math’s and English, though Key Skills tuition can be provided • Be aged between 18 -21 years • We welcome applications from candidates regardless of gender or ethnicity

This is an apprenticeship lasting approximately 18 months. You will work on average of 33 hours per week, over a 52 week period, in a rota system that includes alternate weekends.

The ideal candidate will have qualifications in the following – • Level 2 Powerboat qualification with a commercial endorsement • Current VHF licence • Valid First aid qualification • ML5/ENG 1 Medical

This is a permanent position of an average of 33 hours per week, over a 52 week period, in a rota system that includes alternate weekends.
